Our verdict: compare two nearby pickup locations in the McDonald's app before placing a large order. In a nine-store Toronto snapshot collected on December 29, 2025, one selected basket ranged from $98.13 at 630 Keele Street to $111.93 at 1168 St. Clair Avenue West. That is a $13.80 difference before any delivery charge.
The biggest trap is blaming "dynamic pricing" without proof. The public evidence shows location-based restaurant prices. It does not prove the price changes because your phone battery is low, it is raining or you look hungry.

What the Toronto comparison found
A Toronto resident compared pickup menu prices at nine restaurants in the McDonald's app. The public spreadsheet recorded a set of burgers, nuggets, fries, McFlurrys and meal upgrades.

Do not turn that table into a permanent cheapest-store ranking. It was one pickup snapshot on one day. Promotions, franchise decisions and menu updates can change the order.
The biggest item differences
Big Mac
The sampled Big Mac ranged from $5.99 at 630 Keele Street to $7.39 at Union Station. That $1.40 gap is about 23 per cent of the lower price.
Decision: compare locations when ordering several burgers. For one burger, do not spend $3 in transit to save $1.40.
Double Big Mac
The Double Big Mac ranged from $7.79 at Keele to $9.69 at Dufferin Mall, St. Clair and Dundas West.
Decision: this is where app comparison starts to matter. A family order multiplies the gap quickly.
Double Quarter Pounder
The sampled price ran from $8.89 at Keele to $10.99 at Dufferin Mall and Dundas West.
Decision: a $2.10 difference for the same named burger is too large to ignore if two stores are equally convenient.
Six McNuggets
Six nuggets were $5.99 at Keele and as high as $7.49 at Union Station.
Decision: check value meals and larger packs. The six-piece is not automatically the best price per nugget.
Twenty McNuggets
The 20-piece ranged from $13.69 at Keele to $16.79 at St. Clair.
Decision: compare the pack and current bundle offers before ordering for a group.
McFlurrys
Dessert produced one of the widest percentage gaps. The salted caramel McFlurry ran from $5.09 at 885 Bloor to $6.79 at Union. The Oreo version ranged from $4.49 at 4435 Kingston Road to $5.99 at Union.
Decision: Union Station charges are convenient, not value pricing.
Medium fries
The sampled medium fries had a smaller range, from $4.29 at Kingston Road to $4.79 at several stores.
Decision: do not drive to save 50 cents. Use a current app offer instead.
Some prices barely moved
Not every item varied. In the nine-store snapshot, the McDouble was $3.79, the Junior Chicken was $3.69 and a vanilla cone was $2.19 across the sample.
That is useful because it disproves an easy story. Toronto McDonald's prices are not one blanket downtown surcharge. Some items are held close or identical while others move sharply.
Promotional value items can also have nationally advertised price promises. McDonald's Canada announced a 2026 one-year price promise for participating $5 McValue meals and a $1 small McCafe coffee. Check participation and terms in the app because delivery, add-ons and restaurant availability can differ.
Meal upgrades are where people stop looking
The base burger price is easy to notice. Upgrade charges are less obvious.
In the snapshot, upgrading a double cheeseburger order to a meal ranged from $4.40 at Keele to $6.40 at Dufferin Mall and Dundas West. That is a $2 gap before changing the drink, fries or size.
Decision: compare the final configured meal, not only the menu-board burger.
Why can Toronto locations charge different prices?
McDonald's Canada says about 90 per cent of its Canadian restaurants are run by independent franchisees. The legal terms say each restaurant determines its prices and applicable taxes and fees.
Labour, rent, opening hours, customer volume, station concessions and local competition can all influence a franchise's decision. Those are reasonable business explanations, not verified reasons for each exact tag.
Union Station likely has unusual operating conditions and a captive stream of travellers. That is an inference. McDonald's did not provide a cost breakdown for this comparison.
Is this dynamic pricing?
Not based on the evidence here. Dynamic pricing usually means a price changes with time, demand or another real-time condition. This audit compared different restaurants at one point in time.
Location-based pricing is enough to explain the result. To prove dynamic pricing, someone would need repeated, controlled checks of the same item, restaurant, order method and account over time.
Strong writing does not mean making the accusation stronger than the proof.
How to compare two locations in the app
- Choose pickup, not delivery.
- Select the first nearby restaurant.
- Add the exact order, including size and customizations.
- Record the subtotal before tax.
- Change to the second nearby restaurant.
- Rebuild or confirm the same basket.
- Check the final subtotal and available offers.
- Include the extra walking, driving or TTC time in your choice.
Do not compare a pickup price at one store with a delivery price at another. Do not compare a meal with a standalone burger.

When changing locations is worth it
Use this simple rule:
- Save under $2 on a small order: choose convenience.
- Save $2 to $5 with no meaningful detour: switch.
- Save over $5 on a family order: compare carefully and switch if the food will still arrive hot.
- Spend extra transit fare, parking or 20 minutes: the saving is probably fake.
If one person is already passing the cheaper location, the math changes.
Pickup versus delivery
Delivery can add higher menu prices, delivery fees, service fees, small-order fees and tip. The exact stack depends on platform, restaurant and offer.
Compare final checkout totals, not a free-delivery banner. A waived delivery fee can still sit on top of higher item prices.
Do not use the 2025 pickup spreadsheet to predict a 2026 Uber Eats total.

630 Keele Street
Our rating: 8.6/10
Pros: Lowest sampled basket and the best price on several burgers and nuggets.
Cons: Current reviews are weak on waits, cleanliness and order accuracy, so price is doing most of the work.
This was the clear price winner for the selected basket. Use it as the first comparison if you are already near The Junction.
4435 Kingston Road
Our rating: 8.1/10
Pros: Low sampled fries and Oreo McFlurry prices make it a useful east-end benchmark.
Cons: It did not win every item, and the 2025 price advantage may have moved.
This location produced low sampled prices for medium fries and Oreo McFlurry. It is a useful east-end benchmark.
885 Bloor Street West
Our rating: 8.0/10
Pros: Lowest sampled salted caramel McFlurry and excellent subway access.
Cons: The overall basket was only mid-range, so convenience matters more than a blanket low-price claim.
The Bloorcourt store had the lowest sampled salted caramel McFlurry. Its central transit access can make a modest price difference practical.
1831 Finch Avenue West
Our rating: 7.4/10
Pros: A useful northwest comparison that avoids assuming downtown is always worse.
Cons: It was not the cheapest overall and needs a fresh app check before any detour.
This northwest location provides a useful counterpoint to downtown stores. It was not the universal cheapest.
2365 Dundas Street West
Our rating: 6.6/10
Pros: Convenient near Dundas West and easy to compare with Keele.
Cons: Several burgers and meal upgrades were high in the sample.

Dufferin Mall

Pros: Practical while already shopping or using Dufferin Station.

356 Yonge Street

Pros: Central convenience without being the most expensive on every item.
Cons: Tourist-area convenience still weakens the value case, and the result was mixed rather than cheap.
Downtown did not mean highest on every item. This location proves a simple downtown-versus-suburb rule is too crude.

How to build a better current Toronto audit
A rigorous update should check at least 20 restaurants at the same time on the same day. Use pickup, no account-specific coupon and one standardized basket.

Repeat the test on a weekday lunch, weekday evening and weekend. Only then can we say whether the same restaurant changes price by time.

McDonald's is not one Toronto price list. Keele won this snapshot, St. Clair had the highest chosen basket, and Union charged most for several convenient single items.
Compare nearby pickup stores for a large order. For one cone or one coffee, buy where you are. Saving 50 cents is not worth missing the train.
