Toronto has eight Michelin Key hotels in the 2026 selection: two with Two Keys and six with One. Our first pick for a full luxury stay is Four Seasons Hotel Toronto, thanks to its spa, indoor pool and Yorkville setting. Choose Shangri-La instead if your days revolve around downtown sights.
The biggest warning is at the Ritz-Carlton. Its spa closed for renovations on September 21, 2026, with reopening planned for late February 2027. Don’t book it for a spa weekend during that period. The hotel says its pool and gym will remain open.
That is why a hotel award is a starting point. A beautiful room on the wrong side of downtown, or a rooftop pool that has closed for the season, can still be the wrong booking.
Checked September 21, 2026. These are research-based editorial picks, using Michelin’s award list and the hotels’ own current information. We aren’t claiming to have stayed at all eight.
Our short list: Four Seasons for the all-round splurge. The Hazelton for a smaller hotel with spacious rooms. Shangri-La for an indoor pool and a central sightseeing base. Ace for a weekend built around design, bars and food.
Don’t pay for the wrong perk: 1 Hotel and Bisha have seasonal outdoor pools. A dinner reservation doesn’t buy pool access. And the Ritz-Carlton’s name is no reason to overlook its current spa closure.
All eight Toronto Michelin Key hotels at a glance

Michelin released its selection on September 18, 2026. Toronto’s Two-Key hotels are both in Yorkville. The six One-Key hotels stretch from Yorkville to the Entertainment District and King West. Michelin’s official Canada list confirms every winner below.
| Hotel | 2026 award | Our pick for | Main thing to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Four Seasons | Two Keys | A full luxury weekend | Family swim and adult relaxation hours |
| The Hazelton | Two Keys | A smaller Yorkville stay | Walk-out balcony versus Juliette balcony |
| Park Hyatt | One Key | Museums and rooftop cocktails | Writers Room is 19+ |
| Shangri-La | One Key | Downtown sightseeing and swimming | Main entrance is on Simcoe Street |
| The Ritz-Carlton | One Key | Theatre, concerts and Union Station access | Spa renovation through winter |
| Bisha | One Key | A rooftop-focused celebration | Outdoor pool is seasonal |
| Ace | One Key | Design, restaurants and Queen West | Room category and off-site parking |
| 1 Hotel | One Key | Plant-filled rooms and a summer stay | Small seasonal pool; seating limits |
The profiles below follow the city from Yorkville south to downtown, then west. Each has its own map. Pick the area that fits your plans before comparing rooms.
What does a Key mean? Michelin calls One Key a “very special stay,” Two Keys an “exceptional stay” and Three Keys an “extraordinary stay.” Its inspectors consider design, service, character, value and the hotel’s relationship with its location. Keys recognise hotels; Stars recognise restaurant cooking. One does not automatically come with the other.
Four Seasons Hotel Toronto: our best all-round luxury pick
Full Four Seasons Hotel Toronto Place guide: photos, guest-review themes and FAQs.

Two Michelin Keys · 60 Yorkville Avenue · Yorkville
Four Seasons is our first choice when the hotel itself is a big part of the trip. Its appeal is the combination: a substantial spa, an indoor relaxation pool, Café Boulud for French dining and d|bar for a drink without going far. You can build a slow weekend here without turning it into a string of taxi rides.
This is the current hotel at Bay Street and Yorkville Avenue. Use the 60 Yorkville address when booking transport. The nearby Bloor shopping strip and Yorkville’s smaller streets suit a day of browsing between meals.
There is one useful pool detail that glossy hotel photos won’t explain. On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, the posted family swim windows are 9 a.m. to noon and 4 to 7 p.m., for in-house guests. Adult relaxation hours are noon to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., for ages 16 and up. Check the current spa and pool schedule before promising children an afternoon swim.
Getting there: Bay station on Line 2 is a useful nearby subway stop. This is a Yorkville base, so choose a hotel farther south if nearly every reservation is around King Street or the waterfront.
Our call: Book Four Seasons for a spa-led celebration and time spent enjoying the hotel. For a smaller property in the same neighbourhood, compare the Hazelton before paying.
Check Four Seasons rooms and current offers.

The Hazelton Hotel: best for a smaller Yorkville escape
Full The Hazelton Hotel Toronto Place guide: photos, guest-review themes and FAQs.

Two Michelin Keys · 118 Yorkville Avenue · Yorkville
The Hazelton is the strongest alternative to Four Seasons if you want a smaller hotel. It has 62 rooms and 15 suites, and says its guest rooms average more than 620 square feet. That space matters on a staycation. You can actually spend part of the afternoon in the room.
ONE Restaurant and its Yorkville terrace give the hotel a social side. Spa by Valmont adds an indoor saltwater pool and treatments. The attraction is having those choices in a 77-room property, rather than a large hotel tower.
Read the room name closely. A Juliette balcony lets you open the doors to a railing. It is not an outdoor sitting area. If breakfast outside is the whole point, book a category that explicitly includes a walk-out balcony. The hotel’s room list separates balcony categories.
Getting there: Bay station is nearby. Yorkville’s restaurants, shops and the Bloor museum area are the natural focus of a stay here. It is less convenient than the downtown winners for repeated trips to the convention centre or a Jays game.
Our call: Choose the Hazelton for room space and a smaller setting. Choose Four Seasons if its broader spa experience matters more than hotel size.

Park Hyatt Toronto: best for museums and an evening above the city
Full Park Hyatt Toronto Place guide: photos, guest-review themes and FAQs.

One Michelin Key · 4 Avenue Road · Yorkville and Bloor
Park Hyatt is our pick for a weekend that starts with the Royal Ontario Museum and ends with a drink overlooking Toronto. Its position at Avenue Road and Bloor Street West puts the museum area at your door. You won’t need to travel across downtown for the main event.
The hotel offers Stillwater Spa and Joni Restaurant. But the clearest reason to choose it over its Yorkville neighbours is the 17th-floor Writers Room Bar. The bar’s literary history and skyline setting make it a destination in its own right.
You don’t need to buy a room just to make a bar reservation. If the view is the attraction, start with a table at Writers Room. The hotel lists it as 19+, which makes it a poor fit for a family celebration with younger children.
Getting there: Museum station on Line 1 serves the area, but the TTC currently lists Museum as not accessible while elevator work continues. For a step-free route, check Bay station on Line 2 and its elevator status before travelling.
Our call: Book Park Hyatt for a museum and cocktail weekend. If your plan is mainly to lounge by an indoor pool, start with Four Seasons or the Hazelton’s confirmed pool facilities instead.

Shangri-La Toronto: best for downtown sightseeing and a proper swim
Full Shangri-La Toronto Place guide: photos, guest-review themes and FAQs.

One Michelin Key · 188 University Avenue · Downtown core
Shangri-La is our strongest all-round alternative to Yorkville. Its University Avenue location sits between the Financial District and the Entertainment District. Queen Street West is nearby, and a day can move from galleries and shopping to dinner or a show without a long trip back to the hotel.
The 20-metre indoor lap pool is the standout practical feature. It sits under a glass roof, with a hot tub and other health-club facilities nearby. If swimming is part of your daily routine, that is a better match than a small rooftop plunge pool built around lounging. The health club’s posted pool and hot-tub hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Keep the arrival instructions handy. The postal address is University Avenue, but the hotel says its main entrance is on Simcoe Street, between Richmond and Adelaide. That matters when a driver is dropping you off with luggage.
Getting there: St Andrew station on Line 1 is nearby to the south. Osgoode is another option to the north. The large roads around the hotel make this feel more like central Toronto than a tucked-away retreat.
Our call: Choose Shangri-La when you want to see the city and still get a useful indoor swim. Pick Yorkville if browsing smaller streets and spending most of the day at the hotel sounds better.
See Shangri-La’s location and hotel details.

The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto: best for a show, with a serious spa warning
Full The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto Place guide: photos, guest-review themes and FAQs.

One Michelin Key · 181 Wellington Street West · Entertainment District
The Ritz-Carlton makes the most sense when your Toronto plans revolve around Roy Thomson Hall, a theatre night or downtown attractions. Its Wellington Street address is convenient for Union Station, the convention centre and the area around the CN Tower.
The hotel also advertises a direct PATH connection and access to St Andrew station. That is useful in bad weather, though the underground walkways take some learning. Above ground is often simpler for a first short walk.
Now the booking warning: the hotel’s official renovation notice says the spa closed September 21, 2026, with reopening planned for late February 2027. It says the pool and fitness centre remain open. A Michelin Key does not erase that loss of a major amenity.
TOCA, EPOCH and LANO still give you dining options to check before a performance. If you are comparing Club rooms, price them separately. The hotel says Club Lounge access requires an eligible booking or upgrade; Marriott Bonvoy elite status does not provide it automatically.
Getting there: Use St Andrew on Line 1, or approach from Union Station if arriving by train. For a sports trip, double-check that your tickets are for Rogers Centre rather than Rogers Stadium.
Our call: Book it for the location and a show. Skip it for spa treatments during the renovation. Four Seasons or the Hazelton is the better shortlist for that trip.

Bisha Hotel Toronto: best for a rooftop celebration
Full Bisha Hotel Toronto Place guide: photos, guest-review themes and FAQs.

One Michelin Key · 80 Blue Jays Way · Entertainment District
Bisha is the boldest choice here for a birthday or an evening built around dressing up and going out. The hotel pairs dark, richly styled rooms with KŌST on the 44th floor, Akira Back and the Mister C bar. Its Blue Jays Way location also works for TIFF Lightbox, theatres and the Rogers Centre area.
The view is a real reason to choose it. The pool needs a closer read. Bisha’s amenities page says its outdoor infinity pool runs from mid-May to the end of October, weather permitting. It lists hotel-guest access from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., again subject to weather.
Don’t turn “rooftop hotel” into a promise of a winter swim. And don’t assume a KŌST reservation includes the pool. The restaurant and the guest swimming facility are different bookings and uses.
Bisha is now listed with Marriott’s Luxury Collection. If you use Bonvoy, compare its official Marriott booking page with the hotel’s own offers. Check the actual inclusions rather than guessing from the brand name.
Getting there: St Andrew is the useful subway approach from the east, followed by a walk along the King Street area. This is an Entertainment District stay, so request a quieter room if you are sensitive to sound.
Our call: Choose Bisha for a celebration and rooftop time. If an indoor swim is essential, Shangri-La is the safer choice.

Ace Hotel Toronto: best for design, restaurants and Queen West
Full Ace Hotel Toronto Place guide: photos, guest-review themes and FAQs.

One Michelin Key · 51 Camden Street · Garment District
Ace is our pick for travellers who want the hotel to feel connected to the streets around it. The Shim-Sutcliffe building, beside St. Andrew’s Playground, gives the stay a strong sense of place. Queen West, Spadina Avenue and King West are all part of the surrounding walk.
Inside, the suspended Lobby bar is a big part of the appeal. Alder gives you a restaurant downstairs, while Evangeline brings drinks and skyline views upstairs. It is an easy choice for a weekend where meals and evenings out matter more than formal hotel ceremony.
Choose the room category with care. Ace’s official room list ranges from Cozy rooms with a queen bed to Large rooms with a king bed and 355 square feet. A suite photo does not tell you what the smallest room will feel like with two open suitcases.
There is a useful difference for drivers: the hotel’s FAQ says parking is self-parking at nearby off-site partner lots, with no valet service. It also says dogs stay free and describes an amenity fee without giving its amount in the FAQ. Confirm that fee and the parking arrangements before paying.
Getting there: Plan around the Queen and Spadina surface-transit corridors, or walk west from the University Avenue subway. Check current TTC diversions rather than relying on an old streetcar itinerary.
Our call: Book Ace for its architecture, restaurants and neighbourhood. Compare the exact room size before calling a cheaper rate a bargain.

1 Hotel Toronto: best for a leafy summer stay
Full 1 Hotel Toronto Place guide: photos, guest-review themes and FAQs.

One Michelin Key · 550 Wellington Street West · King West
1 Hotel is the softest-looking stay on this list. Plants, wood and natural textures shape the rooms and public spaces. The hotel says it uses local and reclaimed materials, including wood from Toronto trees. For a city break, that is a welcome change from shiny marble and dark corridors.
Its Wellington Street location works well for King West restaurants and a slower walk through the western side of downtown. Start with 1 Kitchen and the hotel’s dining options if you want an easy first evening close to your room.
The main catch is the rooftop plunge pool. The hotel lists the season as May through September and restricts it to registered hotel guests and residents. Seating is first come, first served, with a 90-minute limit. Its pool page and FAQ describe that limit slightly differently, so confirm the day’s rule with staff.
The useful conclusion is simple: a room does not reserve you a lounger all afternoon. This is a place for a dip and a view, not the best choice for long swimming sessions. Read the current pool rules before booking around them.
Getting there: King and Bathurst are the nearby surface-transit corridors. If you want to step straight onto the subway several times a day, the University Avenue hotels are more convenient.
Our call: Choose 1 Hotel for its interiors and a King West weekend. Skip a pool-led winter booking here. Choose Shangri-La for year-round indoor swimming.

Before you book: compare the whole stay, not the first price

There is no honest fixed nightly price for these eight hotels. Dates, room size, cancellation terms and included meals can change the comparison. A “from” rate without dates is a weak basis for deciding where to spend several hundred dollars.
Compare the same nights for the same number of guests. Then check the final Canadian-dollar total, including taxes and mandatory fees, before adding parking, breakfast or a spa treatment.
Toronto’s Municipal Accommodation Tax is 6% for stays beginning August 1, 2026. The temporary 8.5% rate has ended, according to the City’s hotel-guest guidance. That is not the only tax or possible charge on the bill, so don’t treat the room price plus 6% as your final total.
For an anniversary, spend on the thing you will use. A larger room is useful if you will spend the afternoon in it. A breakfast package is wasted if you plan to leave early. A rooftop pool is irrelevant once it closes for the season.
Travelling with children: Confirm the maximum occupancy, bed setup and family swim hours. “Two beds” can mean two doubles, not two queens. Writers Room’s 19+ rule applies to that bar, not to the entire Park Hyatt hotel.
Need an accessible room? Confirm the exact room category and the features you need, such as a roll-in shower, bed height and step-free route to the pool. Ace and the Hazelton list accessible room categories. The Ritz-Carlton publishes detailed accessibility features. A Key is not an accessibility rating. Check TTC station and elevator information for the journey too.
Staying local? Start with our three-day Toronto staycation plan, then keep the parts near your hotel. Save a rainy-day option rather than paying for a room and spending the whole weekend travelling across town.
Toronto Michelin hotel questions

Does Toronto have a Three-Michelin-Key hotel?
No. In the 2026 selection, Toronto has two Two-Key hotels and six One-Key hotels. Canada’s Three-Key properties are Fogo Island Inn in Newfoundland and Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge in British Columbia. Michelin’s global guide lists 42 Canadian Key hotels in total.
Is a Michelin Key the same as a Michelin Star?
No. Keys recognise hotels, while Stars recognise restaurant cooking. A restaurant inside a Key hotel does not automatically have a Star. Check the restaurant’s own Michelin listing when that is part of your dinner plan.
Which Toronto Michelin hotel is best for a first visit without a car?
Our pick is Shangri-La if you want a central base and an indoor pool. Choose the Ritz-Carlton if Union Station, theatres and the convention-centre area dominate your plans. Choose a Yorkville hotel if museums and Bloor Street shopping matter more.
Which winners are best for swimming in winter?
Start with Shangri-La, Four Seasons or the Hazelton, which each advertise indoor pools. The Ritz-Carlton says its pool will remain open during the spa renovation. Bisha and 1 Hotel have seasonal outdoor pools, so they are poor choices for a winter swimming trip.
Can I visit the bars and restaurants without staying overnight?
Yes, several hotel restaurants and bars take separate reservations, including Writers Room, Alder and the Yorkville dining rooms. Book the venue directly and check any age limits. A restaurant booking does not include guest facilities such as a pool. Our Toronto afternoon tea guide is another way to plan a hotel outing without paying for a room.
Is the Ritz-Carlton Toronto spa open?
The hotel’s notice says the spa closed on September 21, 2026, for renovations, with reopening planned for late February 2027. It says the pool and fitness centre will stay open. Confirm the reopening directly before booking a treatment-led stay.
Are all the Ontario Michelin Key hotels in Toronto?
No. The 2026 list also includes the Fairmont Château Laurier Gold Experience in Ottawa, Merrill House and The Royal Hotel in Picton, and Belvedere Hotel and The Smith Hotel in Kingston. Those are separate trips, not Toronto neighbourhood options. Use Michelin’s complete Canadian selection if you want to leave the city.
For one special Toronto stay, start with Four Seasons. If you will spend most of your time exploring downtown, start with Shangri-La. Then compare the actual room and the final bill. The right hotel should make your weekend easier.
