Finding a wedding guest dress in Toronto should be fun. It often is not. Half the dresses look too casual, the good sizes disappear first, and some stores hide a rough return policy behind a pretty website.
If the wedding is this week, shop in person. Start with Ever New at the Eaton Centre for a polished dress, Fitzroy for a rental, Zumel on Queen West for something less predictable, or Dufferin Mall if you need to stay near $150.
If you have more time, Park & Fifth, Boutique 1861 and Revolve give you more choice. Just read the return rules before you order.
Prices, shipping times and policies were checked on August 17, 2026. Stock can change much faster than this article.
The quick answer
| What you need | Our first pick | Why | Main catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| A dress this week | Ever New Eaton Centre | Lots of wedding-ready midi and maxi shapes | Popular sizes can go quickly |
| A dress tomorrow | Fitzroy or Zumel | You can try it on in Toronto | Rental stock and boutique sizes vary |
| A dress under $150 | Windsor or Le Château at Dufferin Mall | Easy to compare several stores in one trip | Quality and stock are uneven |
| A dress you may wear once | Fitzroy | Better dresses without buying another closet filler | Check your size before travelling there |
| A Canadian boutique dress | Park & Fifth | Clean, modern styles that photograph well | It costs more and the return window is short |
| More plus-size choices | Norma Reed, Laura Plus or Marlas | Better odds than a small downtown boutique | Return rules vary a lot |
| Fast online delivery | Revolve | One to two business day shipping over its free-shipping threshold | Prices are often high |
| Romantic online dresses | Boutique 1861 | Pretty styles that do not feel like mall basics | Returns must start within 15 days |
If the wedding is this weekend, do this first
Do not make a made-to-order dress your main plan. Azazie can be useful when you start early, but it is not a safe same-week bet. Cider, JJ’s House and marketplace sellers can also miss a tight deadline.
Pick one shopping area and call before you leave. Ask if your size is on the floor, not just listed online.
Our fastest routes are:
- Downtown: Ever New at the Eaton Centre, then Zara and H&M if you need cheaper backups.
- West end: Zumel on Queen West, then Fitzroy near Sterling Road if a rental works.
- Budget trip: Windsor, Le Château at Suzy Shier, Reitmans, Old Navy and Winners at Dufferin Mall.
- North Toronto: Norma Reed at Fairview Mall, or Marlas on Tycos Drive if you want a large formalwear showroom.
- East end: Park & Fifth on Carlaw Avenue for a modern dress with a cleaner shape.
Bring the shoes and bra you plan to wear. Sit down in the dress. Lift your arms. Take one photo in daylight. A dress that only works while you stand still is not a good wedding dress.
The best Toronto stores for wedding guest dresses
Ever New is our best place to start
Ever New is the safest first stop for someone who wants a feminine wedding guest dress that feels dressed up but not like a bridesmaid gown.
The current collection includes mini, midi and maxi dresses for garden, cocktail and formal weddings. It also has a petite range. Its Curve line runs from sizes 12 to 20, but the Curve choice is smaller than the main line.
The Toronto store is on level 2 of the Eaton Centre at 220 Yonge Street. Regular-price online purchases can be returned within 30 days and can go back to a Canadian store. Sale returns are more limited.
Address: Level 2, CF Toronto Eaton Centre, 220 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON.

Best for: Romantic prints, satin, pleats and a fitted top with a softer skirt.
Skip it if: You want something very edgy or you need a deep plus-size range.
Fitzroy is the best rental
Fitzroy rents designer dresses from its studio at 213 Sterling Road, Unit 111. You can walk in without an appointment, and it is open seven days a week.
Address: 213 Sterling Road, Unit 111, Toronto, ON.
Many current rentals sit around $100 to $160. That can make more sense than spending $300 on a dress you will wear once.
The catch is size depth. Fitzroy lists some 2X and 3X dresses online, but the choice in one size can be much smaller than the full collection. Filter by size online before you travel. If you need several backup choices, call the studio first.

Park & Fifth is worth it when the cut matters
Park & Fifth is a Canadian label with a Toronto studio at 262 Carlaw Avenue, Unit 101. Walk-ins are welcome for social occasion dresses.
Address: 262 Carlaw Avenue, Unit 101, Toronto, ON.
The styles are clean and modern. This is a good place if you want a fitted bodice, a long line, or a dress that looks polished without heavy sparkle.
It is not cheap. Full-price items can be refunded to the original payment method within 14 days of delivery. Exchanges or store credit are allowed up to 21 days. Sale items only get an exchange or store credit, and items discounted 55 per cent or more are final sale.
That short clock matters. Do not let the box sit unopened for a week.

Zumel is the most fun Queen West choice
Zumel has been on Queen West since 2014. The store is at 863 Queen Street West.
Address: 863 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON.
This is where we would look for a dress that feels less safe than a mall dress. The current mix includes colour, prints, body-skimming shapes and dresses around the $200 mark.
There is one important warning. Zumel’s return page shows conflicting rules. One part says 30 days and refunds. Another says 14 days for store credit, while an older section says no refunds. Ask the store to confirm the rule for your exact dress before paying.
That messy policy page is a reason to shop in person and be sure about the fit.

Simons is good when you do not know your style yet
Simons at Yorkdale is useful because it carries many brands and price levels in one store. The address is 3401 Dufferin Street.
Address: Yorkdale Shopping Centre, 3401 Dufferin Street, Toronto, ON.
Go here when you want to compare a simple slip dress, a printed midi and a more formal gown without crossing the city.
Regular-price items can usually be returned within 30 days. Sale items get 10 days. Most online orders can go back to a store, but online-only items are an exception.

Norma Reed has a strong formal range
Norma Reed is a practical choice when a regular fashion chain does not carry enough formal dresses. Its Fairview Mall store is at 1800 Sheppard Avenue East.
Address: CF Fairview Mall, 1800 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto, ON.
The wedding guest collection includes many dresses under $200. Some current styles reach 2XL or 3XL, while others use numbered sizes into the 20s. Check the size chart for the exact dress because the range is not the same on every item.
The look leans formal. That is good for a ballroom or evening wedding. It may feel like too much for a casual restaurant wedding.

Marlas has a lot of dresses, but a hard return rule
Marlas Fashions has a large showroom at 111 Tycos Drive, Unit 100. It carries formal, petite and plus-size dresses and is open seven days a week.
Address: 111 Tycos Drive, Unit 100, Toronto, ON.
This is a useful place when you want many dresses in one room and do not mind a less trendy store setting.
The big drawback is its five-day return window. Five days is not much time. Make your decision quickly and keep every tag attached.

Laura and Melanie Lyne are better than people remember
Laura and Melanie Lyne are worth a look for a classic cocktail dress, a jacket dress or a more covered formal option. The Woodbridge Piazza Del Sole store is at 200 Windflower Gate.
This store is in Woodbridge, not the City of Toronto. It makes the most sense for someone in the north or west GTA, or anyone travelling by car.
Address: Piazza Del Sole, 200 Windflower Gate, Woodbridge, ON.
Melanie Lyne for Laura Plus currently covers sizes X to 3X and 14 to 24.
Read the refund rule closely. Evening dresses, cocktail dresses and jumpsuits may be returned within 14 days, but the refund is put on a gift card. It does not go back to the original payment method.

The best budget plan is one mall, not six deliveries
Dufferin Mall is at 900 Dufferin Street, one block south of Bloor. It is not the fanciest shopping trip. It is one of the most efficient.
Address: 900 Dufferin Street, Toronto, ON.
Start at Windsor for cocktail and formal dresses. Then check Le Château inside Suzy Shier, Reitmans, Old Navy and Winners.
Our order would be:
- Windsor for the widest eventwear look.
- Le Château for classic formal shapes.
- Reitmans for easier fits and more coverage.
- Old Navy Occasion for a simple low-cost dress.
- Winners for a lucky find, not a reliable plan.
Winners and Marshalls can produce a great $50 dress. They can also produce nothing. Do not save them for your last hour.

Other quick checks include Dynamite, RW&CO., Aritzia, Abercrombie, Anthropologie, Zara, H&M and Honey.
Abercrombie has a real wedding guest collection and a useful size range. Some current styles still read more like a nice dinner dress than a formal wedding dress. Look at the fabric and length, not the category name.
Anthropologie is better for a romantic or garden wedding than a strict black-tie room. Try it in person if the dress has a tricky print or unusual cut.
Online options that can still work in Canada
Boutique 1861 is pretty and fairly fast
Boutique 1861 is based in Montreal and is a good source for romantic dresses that do not look like basic mall stock.
For Ontario, standard delivery is listed as two to seven business days. Faster options include one to three business day Xpresspost and one to two business day priority or courier service. Processing time comes before shipping, so this is not a promise that a dress ordered on Thursday will arrive by Saturday.
Online returns must be requested within 15 days of receiving the order. Regular-price items can be refunded, exchanged or returned for credit. Return postage is deducted. Some occasion dresses also carry a restocking fee.
Revolve is the best fast online backup
Revolve is expensive, but its Canadian service is unusually clear. Orders of $125 or more currently get free UPS Express delivery in an estimated one to two business days.
Prices include duties. Taxes are added at checkout. Free Canadian returns include a refund of duties and taxes. Full refunds are available within 30 days, with exchanges allowed within 60 days. A small number of heavily discounted items are final sale.
This is the online choice we would trust most with a tight deadline. We would still leave a buffer day.
Azazie is for planning early
Azazie is useful for a wide size range, custom sizing and try-on dresses. It offers sizes 0 to 30 and lets you order up to six try-on dresses.
The current try-on fee is normally $10 for many non-bridal dresses, with some three-for-$20 offers. You keep the samples for seven days. The fee is not refunded.
Do not wear a try-on dress to an event and send it back. It is a sample, not a rental. Azazie can charge the full price and block future orders when a sample is not returned properly.
Made-to-order dresses need time. If your wedding is close, only order when the checkout date gives you room for a late parcel and possible alterations.
What about Cider, Amazon, JJ’s House and Petal & Pup?
They can work, but we would not make any of them the only plan for a wedding this week.
Amazon is fastest when the item is already in a Canadian warehouse. Check the seller, delivery date and return address. An import-fee deposit can make the refund harder to understand when an item crosses the border.
PrettyGarden and Petal & Pup have popular event dresses on Amazon, but brand names do not fix a bad seller listing. Read the listing you are actually buying.
JJ’s House and Cider have a lot of choice. Fit and fabric can be less predictable. Reformation looks better and costs much more. All four make more sense when you have time to return the first try.
What dress shape is fitted on top and loose at the hips?
Look for an A-line, fit-and-flare or wrap dress. These shapes sit closer at the chest or waist and give more room through the hips.
A bias-cut slip dress does the opposite. It follows the body and can cling at the hip. A bodycon dress will be closer everywhere.
Useful search words include:
- fitted bodice A-line midi dress
- corset top full skirt dress
- wrap midi dress
- fit-and-flare cocktail dress
- ruched bodice flowy skirt
If you have a larger chest, check the seam under the bust. It should sit under the bust, not across it. If the waist fits but the chest pulls, sizing up and doing a small waist alteration often looks better than forcing the smaller size.
Return traps to check before you pay
The return policy matters almost as much as the dress.
- Final sale: This often includes deep discounts, accessories and some formal dresses.
- Store credit only: Laura eveningwear, sale items at several boutiques and some in-store purchases fall into this group.
- Short windows: Marlas gives only five days. Park & Fifth gives 14 days for a refund. Boutique 1861 gives 15 days.
- Return fees: Boutique 1861 deducts return postage. Some occasion dresses add a restocking fee.
- Different online and store rules: Boutique 1861 and Windsor separate online and store purchases.
- Conflicting website text: Zumel’s current policy page contradicts itself. Get the rule in writing for the dress you buy.
Keep the receipt. Leave the tag on. Try the dress indoors without perfume, makeup or body shimmer.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the best place to buy a wedding guest dress in Toronto?
Ever New at the Eaton Centre is our best first stop for a polished midi or maxi dress. Fitzroy is best for a designer rental. Park & Fifth is best when you want a cleaner, more expensive Canadian design.
Where can I find an affordable wedding guest dress in Toronto?
Start at Dufferin Mall. Windsor, Le Château at Suzy Shier, Reitmans, Old Navy and Winners are in one place. Dynamite and RW&CO. are also good checks when your budget is around $100 to $180.
Where can I rent a wedding guest dress in Toronto?
Fitzroy rents wedding guest and formal dresses from its studio at 213 Sterling Road. Walk-ins are allowed. Filter the online collection by your size before you go because the number of choices can change quickly.
Where can I buy a plus-size wedding guest dress in Toronto?
Norma Reed, Laura Plus and Marlas have better formal plus-size depth than many small downtown boutiques. Ever New Curve runs from sizes 12 to 20. Check the range on the exact dress because size coverage changes by style.
What should I wear to a cocktail wedding in Toronto?
A midi dress, a dressy knee-length dress or a polished jumpsuit usually works. Satin, crepe, pleats and a good print can all fit cocktail dress code. Avoid a floor-length ball gown unless the invitation also says formal or black tie.
Can a wedding guest wear black?
Yes. Black is normal at Toronto weddings, especially for evening, cocktail and formal events. Add colour through shoes, a bag or jewellery if the dress feels too serious.
How much should I spend on a wedding guest dress?
There is no correct number. A useful Toronto range is about $75 to $180 for a chain-store dress, $180 to $350 for a boutique dress, or $100 to $160 for a designer rental. Spend less when the dress has only one use.
Can I get a wedding guest dress delivered in two days?
Sometimes. Revolve currently lists one to two business day UPS Express shipping in Canada, free on orders of $125 or more. Boutique 1861 also offers faster shipping. Processing time, weekends and stock problems can still cause delays, so keep an in-person backup.
Our honest short list
If we had one afternoon, we would start at Ever New. If nothing worked, we would go to Fitzroy for a rental or Dufferin Mall for a cheaper backup.
For a formal wedding, we would check Park & Fifth, Norma Reed or Marlas. For a fast online order, we would choose Revolve before taking a chance on a marketplace seller.
The best dress is not the one with the fanciest product photo. It is the one that arrives on time, lets you sit and dance, and can still be returned if it looks wrong in daylight.
